DARE

For a couple of weeks a lady called Constable Julie came in and talked to the senior school about drugs and alcohol. This programme is called DARE and a lot of schools in New Zealand ask for a police officer to come in and do the DARE program to teach us about how bad drugs can be.

I am so happy that we got to do the DARE programme because it was so interesting and I know it will help heaps for the future and high school. At the very end of the programme, All of us year 7 and 8's went to H2O extreme and got a t-shirt and a necklace. I am so grateful that Constable Julie gave up her time to come in to our school and tell us about the dangers of some drugs and the consequences. 

All illegal drugs will harm you and legal drugs can also harm you if misused. I always knew that drugs are extremely bad and WILL harm you, but now I know what they do to you. I will never EVER take drugs because I know what they do and how they just ruin your life. I hope every school is encouraged to have DARE because its not only educational, it is also heaps of fun! DARE has been extremely helpful and I am so happy that we got the chance to take this programme!

Art/drawing

Yesterday The whole of room 22 drew a picture from youtube. It is supposed to look like the road, house and posts are going into the distance. At first we drew a little dot and a V shape attaching on to it for the road. then we drew the posts getting smaller and smaller into the distance. After that we drew the house. I think this was so much fun. I will defiantly try it out at home, as it is a great way to learn how to draw this sort of thing and make it look really pro.

DARE!

We are doing DARE in inquiry at the moment. It is about drugs and alcohol. So far it has been really good because I know a lot more about the dangers of some drugs and other drugs which can help you. Today Constable Julie came into our class and talked to us about illegal and legal drugs. I did not know that chocolate, coffe, tea and Coca-Cola are actually drugs! All illegal drugs are very bad and can kill you. Most of the drugs which are legal, are good for you, but not all of them. Tabaco is a drug which people smoke, however it it not good for you at all but is allowed. Chocolate is also a legal drug which isn't all that good for you either, same with Coca-Cola. I think DARE is going to be a very interesting learning process and I think  I will enjoy is a lot. I am very excited to learn more about DARE, especially at the end when we go to the pool! (:
