Young Leaders Day

NYLD 2012!

On Monday the 28th of May 2012, some of the year 7 and 8s had the opportunity to attend national young leaders day. The event was placed at the Michael Fowler centre. there were 5 speakers talking about being the bast we can be and sparking our potential as a leader. The first speaker was Nick Tuatasi. He spoke about Sparking your undiscovered ability. ‘SPARK’ stands for S-Shaken, P-Pushed, A-Anger, R-Risk and K-Kick start.
The second speaker was Jamie Fitzgerald. He talked about how him and his friend won a rowing competition by not giving up and walking across Antarctica. That is why he is so inspiring. She said to believe in your self and others will to. He said never let performance get in the way of safety
The nest person to speak was Cassandra Treadwell. she talked about the homeless people in Kenya and how people said that she couldn’t make a Charity with 4 kids but she did and is currently building a school in Kenya. She said to believe in your self and others will to.
Cam Calkoen was the nest speaker and he had a disability called cerebal palsey. he was talking about how he loves sport and has competed for our country in sports.
His favourite word was awesome and he said: ‘dream big and achieve more.’
The last speaker was called Dave Atkinson. He was my favourite person of the day. He said that you become the people you hang out with so choose good friends and stick up for what is right. You don’t need to try and be like your friends so choose wisely.
Young leaders day was very inspirational and I had a fun day. It was defiantly worth going.

Term 2 Goals(:

Term 3 Goals(:

Literacy- For my literacy I need to improve my spelling. I will do this by revising them everyday at home for homework to try and get 10/10 at the end of the week for testing.

Maths- For maths I need to work on getting faster with my basic facts test and try and get over 70/100 every time. I will do this by going on to Mathletics after school 4 times a week.

General- I need to improve on not fiddling on the mat and try to concentrate more. I will do this by not having anything to fiddle with and not sitting by anyone that will distract me.
