Me
Hailey
My name is Hailey and I am 13 years old. I am a student at Muritai School and next year I will be going to Hutt Valley High School. Some of my strengths include, writing and public speaking. I am also good at managing groups of people and being social with one another.
Being sporty and athletic has always been something which I am quite good at and really enjoy. It is also something which I have achieved greatly in for schooling events in the past. I also love doing art and it is one of my main strengths. I always try my very hardest in this subject. I love being around my friends and I always try to be as supportive as possible towards them.
Ever since 2004 I have attended Muritai school and I still go there now. Before I was five I went to the local Eastbourne Kindergarten. This is my last year here and shortly I will be moving on to high school. In year eight we have more responsibilities because we are the oldest in the school. some of these responsibilities include leader ship roles. This year I wrote and application to ask to be the King house captain and to take part in Muritai TV. I got both of these things and it is heaps of fun taking on these roles. I have really enjoyed my time here but I also can’t wait to head on to high school.
Some of my achievements while I have been at Muritai School include:
Winning the cross country almost every year.
Getting to regional cross country once.
Coming second a couple of times in the inter-zone swimming sports.
Becoming House captain.
Being part of Muritai T.V.
Winning The sprints and long jump a couple of times in athletics.
Having a speaking role in the production.
Some of my goals when I am older are to travel the world with Elspeth and build an accounting business with Caela. It would be so much fun to achieve my goals with my best friends.

DARE
DARE
For a couple of weeks a lady called Constable Julie came in and talked to the senior school about drugs and alcohol. This programme is called DARE and a lot of schools in New Zealand ask for a police officer to come in and do the DARE program to teach us about how bad drugs can be.
I am so happy that we got to do the DARE programme because it was so interesting and I know it will help heaps for the future and high school. At the very end of the programme, All of us year 7 and 8's went to H2O extreme and got a t-shirt and a necklace. I am so grateful that Constable Julie gave up her time to come in to our school and tell us about the dangers of some drugs and the consequences.
All illegal drugs will harm you and legal drugs can also harm you if misused. I always knew that drugs are extremely bad and WILL harm you, but now I know what they do to you. I will never EVER take drugs because I know what they do and how they just ruin your life. I hope every school is encouraged to have DARE because its not only educational, it is also heaps of fun! DARE has been extremely helpful and I am so happy that we got the chance to take this programme!
